It is imperative for dental professionals to keep up on current regulations, from all applicable regulatory bodies.
The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommends weekly spore testing be performed for each sterilizer, and preferably, for each load. The American Dental Association (ADA) also recommends weekly testing as regular monitoring allows for early discovery of equipment malfunctions or procedural errors.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also recommend weekly spore testing. The CDC guideline goes further by directing on various sterilization types and monitoring of sterilization procedures, with specific instructions on how to do so.
